At Island Psychology we are trained to treat adults experiencing a wide variety of Mental Heath concerns. As clinicians we strive to be client-centred in our overall therapeutic approach. Through our intake and initial sessions we aim to come up with shared gaols with our clients. These goals are then worked on with a combination of evidence-based methods that suit the individual needs of the client. We specialise in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). The ACT approach helps you to take effective action in relation to things you can control, while making peace with those you can’t. Using the skills your therapist will teach, you will be able to confidently address life’s challenges and improve your mental health, work-life balance, relationships and general well being.
We also utilise Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Schema Therapy, Emotion Coaching, Mindfulness, Play-based Therapy and Psycho-education.
